Ozzy Osbourne cause of death: Legendary rock icon Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76. Known as the “Prince of Darkness” and the voice of Black Sabbath, Osbourne passed away on the morning of July 22, 2025, in his hometown of Birmingham.
Ozzy’s health had been steadily declining for years. It began with a serious bout of flu in February 2019. He was hospitalized due to complications, and doctors feared it could turn into pneumonia because of his intense tour schedule and the cold European weather.

Just days later, he was moved to the ICU, and his European tour had to be put on hold. There were still hopes he’d recover in time to perform in Australia and New Zealand, but that never happened.
Things got worse when he fell at his Los Angeles home while still recovering. The fall caused severe injuries and led to the cancellation of all his 2019 shows.
Around the same time, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, a condition he kept private until January 2020. The disease made it harder for him to move, and over time, he lost the ability to walk.
In February 2020, Ozzy also canceled his North American tour and went to Switzerland for medical treatment. It was during this period that he also revealed he was battling emphysema, a chronic lung condition.
Despite his struggles, Ozzy didn’t lose his love for music. Seventeen days before his death, he gave his final live performance during the “Back to the Beginning” farewell concert, a fitting name for a man who shaped the beginning of heavy metal music.
Throughout all the health battles, Ozzy remained a fighter. His fans admired his strength, honesty, and unbreakable spirit. From wild stage antics to soulful ballads, he gave everything to his music and his fans.
Tributes from across the world have started pouring in; from fans, fellow musicians, and celebrities who grew up listening to him or were inspired by his fearless career.
